Broncos Lose at Home to Colts
Last night the Broncos were defeated at home by the Colts in a 31-23 grudge match. The deciding factor was the Broncos turning the ball over 4 times (2int, 2fum) and allowing 2 sacks. We talked to Owner/ CEO Brock Mercil after the loss.
"The Colts played great. No doubt about it. They were able to move the ball on us and we weren't able to put pressure on Bradford. We accept this defeat and say to the Colts; congratulations and good luck. We now look forward to next season and will mend our mistakes which we began to make mid-season, which was the numerous times we changed our strategy and playbooks throughout the year. This was our downfall. We were rolling our opponents the first 5 weeks after John (Elway) and I took over, and then after the Jets game decided to mix things up.
The season got difficult for us from that moment forward. We did win the FFC West and that's nice, but it's not a Power Bowl, and like the Lions, we'll be in the hunt for that next year. It'll be nice to be able to spend a real offseason with the front office and make real moves, as opposed to coming into this franchise after the season starts like we did this year. As the Lions Owner Mr. Edele stated "This will be a new look" Denver Broncos team. We already have moves to make and will list them below."
- QB- Carson Palmer (87 Overall, 30 years old, had 38td, 14int)
Carson doesn't fit in with our style of offense, looking for a high draft pick or QB or TE or C or RG or RT or CB.
He is an awesome pocket passer and can deliver the deep ball.
We are pleased with the remaining roster but are open to any trade you have in mind.
Thank you all and good luck to all owners of the NML.

Interview with Brock Mercil
Mike Williams here in Denver Colorado to discuss with Broncos owner Brock Mercil, how he felt the season went and what he expects for the team moving on...
Mike Williams (MW)
Brock Mercil (BM)
MW: How's it going Mr. Mercil?
BM: Good, would rather be preparing for the UFC Championship game, but good. You?
MW: Everything is good on this end. Let's discuss the season that was. You came into Denver in week 3 and purchased the Denver Broncos becoming the 2nd owner in team history. The team then 0-2 was in desperate need of a change, so in you came and brought in the legendary John Elway to rally the troops. Why did you pick John?
BM: Well John was really a no brainer for me. He has 2 rings and more wins then any other QB in league history, minus Favre. He owned an arena football team, the Colorado Crush, and brought home a league championship in the teams second year. He knows the game, knows how to manage players and knows how to run a business. That's what this is, a business. We're here to win and bring home division championships, conference championships and the Power Bowl. Not a bad start for our first year, 12-4, the western division champions and a young talented team to bring back next year, we're all excited in the mile high city.
MW: Young and talented is right. Now I know the team does have it's need's like any other, your's are..?
BM: Center, cornerback, safety and we're in the hunt for a quarterback. Carson (Palmer) is on the eve of his 31st birthday and is contemplating retirement, we hope he decides to stay and continue his success with this Broncos team, but we stand behind him 100% with whatever his decision is. We would love to trade up in the draft and are willing to deal out almost anyone for this within reason of course. We have a extremely talented club and are excited to hear from owners from around the league this offseason who are interested to dime and deal.
MW: Attention owners! The Broncos want to talk. (Laughs) What do you plan for this team next year?
BM: Consistency and success. Our biggest problem this year was consistency. We changed offenses 3-4 times this season and went into many games not 100% familiar with each playbook, trying out new and different things. We let it get out of control, hence our losses. John and I can't wait to start transforming this already great team, all for the better. We are already in the process of mastering "our" playbooks both on offense and defense, and are extremely pleased with the results. We have something new for our opponents this next year, look out.
MW: Thank you for your time Mr. Mercil and all the best in the off season and into the 2011 season as well.
BM: Thanks.
