4/6/10 Dallas, TX - Last year's Cowboys would have been considered successful in cities like Seattle, Cleveland or even San Francisco lately. But the truth is we're talking about the Cowboys and a season without a Sammy Baugh Trophy is unsuccessful regardless of how well the team might have played or matured. The Cowboys only lost two regular season games; once in Week 9

against division rival Philadelphia and then in the final game against the Lions. All other games they blew the competition away.
So it was no surprise that expectations were so high for this team going into the post season in their new stadium. After their first round bye, Dallas played host to the Arizona Cardinals; a team that included MVP Brandon Jones. Neither Jones or the rest of his team proved to be too much of a match for the Cowboy team who won 28-7. Then it was on to the power house of the NML... Detroit. As mentioned earlier the Lions were one of only 2 teams to beat Dallas in the regular season. Revenge was on the mind of everyone in Texas (minus those who root for Houston). While the Cowboys entered the locker room at halftime with the lead, it wasn't meant to be. Detroit would come back and bury Dallas 45-28, thus ending a "disappointing" season.
So what's new for this team going into 2010? For starters they have pulled off a major trade with the Falcons. Gone are some Dallas stars such as Vilma, Tanard, Rogers and Jennings; acquired are Delhomme and Orlando Pace along with 5 draft picks. Yes that is correct 5! So now the Cowboys have a total of 12 draft picks! With so many options in a deep draft as this class will prove to be, the Cowboys have the luxury of many options with their picks.
Their needs, surprisingly are quite a few. They have to get a running back as Chester Taylor might not be an answer for starter and Fred Taylor is getting too old to carry the load. Luckily not a lot of other teams need running backs which will allow Dallas to wait until the 30th pick to snatch one up.
Dallas also needs at least one quality left tackle, a couple of outside linebackers, a center, a couple of defensive ends and a strong safety. So besides taking a running back 30th, who should they take with their newly acquired 16th pick?
If either tackle, Russell Okung or Brian Bulaga, are available then that is who Dallas should grab up to solidify their line. If both are taken, which is likely, then either Sergio Kindle of Texas or Brandon Graham of Michigan should be who they take 16th. Either one would be an improvement to the lack of talent playing the outside linebacker spot for Dallas. Other possibilities are OLB Sean Witherspoon, OT Anthony Davis and DE Jason Pierre-Paul.
With so many holes to fill and so many options to work with it's hard to anticipate which way Dallas will go but it should be an exciting and very busy draft day for the Cowboys.
